IFRS qualification — frequently asked questions

Who awards the IFRS professional qualification?

It is awarded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA – UK), a globally recognised professional accountancy body, and is respected in more than 80 countries.

Who is eligible for the qualification?

Qualified accountants and auditors are eligible directly. Part-qualified professionals may qualify with two years’ relevant experience plus a relevant degree (ACCA F1–F4 exemptions) or the ACCA Certificate in IFRS, or with three years’ experience or ACCA Affiliate status. If you are not yet eligible, you can take the ACCA Certificate in IFRS first.

How is the qualification examined?

One exam of 100 marks — a consolidation question (40 marks) and scenario-based questions (60 marks). Exam sessions run twice a year, with exams in June and December, booked online via ACCA.

Do I get any ACCA exemptions?

Yes — the qualification carries an exemption from ACCA Paper F7 (Financial Reporting) and supports progression through ACCA.
